Pulmonary hypertension causes high blood pressure specific to the arteries in your lungs. These arteries can narrow or become damaged and subsequently cause the right side of the heart to work much harder than normal. The causes of PH are not very well understood and it is important to see a PAH specialist to identify the underlying cause to treat appropriately. Symptoms often include fatigue, shortness of breath, chest pain, and peripheral edema.
